How do I register?

To register click on the "REGISTER" button. Next, fill in ALL your personal information, accept the Terms & Conditions and click on Register. Next check your email inbox form the Mercadod de Ventas confimation email (also check your junk or spam email inbox). Click on the activation link that redirects you back to our website. This finalises the proces of registration and verification. You can now login with you personal username and password.

I'm under 18 and can't signup?

That's right. In accordance with Standard Law persons under 18 years of age cannot participate in auctions as they are legal binding contracts. However your parents can buy or sell on your behalf, so ask them. And it's good practice to inform them of your activities, because they are legaly responsible and accountable for you as being a minor.

Sometimes our emails may end up in your Junk or Spam email inbox, so checks these first. If no confirmation email is received, use the "Contact Us" form to notify our staff. They will help you solve any problems.

How do I list an item?
|
|
You must first become a registered member. Registering is free of charge. Once you have registered simply login to your account and click on "SELL ITEM" button. The first thing to do is select a general category where your item matches. Note that you may choose a more specific category further into the listing process. You can then enter in your type settings, asking prices, item description, pictures of your item, terms of delivery and payment options you provide. It's easy and intuitively. So go on, try it... |

How can I keep track of items I'm selling?

You can keep an eye on everything you are selling by logging in into your personal members area, by clicking on the "Selling"-button and entering the "Me Selling" page. |

Can I use HTML when listing an item?
|
|
Yes you can use HTML to make up your item description. In fact our website provides you with a build-in editor screen to create your HTML fast and easy. However we recommend you to use basic HTML-tags and font colors as more complex HTML may not display correctly or may be filtered out. The preview screen will show you the actual result of your HTML. We advise to limit marking up your ads, as they tend to become less attractive to viewers when overdoing it too much. Also note that Javascript won't work in your HTML. |

How can I place a bid?

If you're not member, then first register. Registering is free of charge. To place a bid on an item you must first login to your personal account. Once logged in, a bidding box will be displayed at bottom of each auction. Fill in the price you are willing to pay for the item, accept the Terms and Conditions, and submit to place you chosen bid our the system. As of that moment you participate in the bidding. The systems does all the bidding for you (Read about our proxy-bid automatic bidding function) and notifies you further by email. You don't have to stay online, the system works while you are away. It's all very intuitively. So go on, try it now... |

How can I keep track of items I'm bidding on?

How do I know if I am outbid on an item?
|

The Mercado de Ventas system will automatically notify you by e-mail if you are outbid. You may then choose to renew your bid or refrain from further bidding on the auction. |

What means "Proxy-bidding"?
|
|
The Mercadod de Ventas website uses an full automatic system to bid on behalf of its members. This means your bidding will continue while you are away. Proxy bidding does all the work for you and will bid up to the maximum price that you have predefined in your bid. The nice twist to it is, that in case you become the winner of an auction, you will always have the best price, even lower than your max bid. This is because the end of auction price is always your competitors highest bid plus one incremental value of our system, and this will in return be a lower price then you have actualy set to be your max offer.

We take our anti-spam policy very strict. This is why we don't show any email addresses from both our members and our staff on our website, because these could otherwise be harvested by spammers. If you want to contact us, use the Contact Us form. Our staff will respond back to you ASAP.

You advertise as having FREE ads, but when I post an ad, you ask me to pay fees?

Basic listing is FREE of charge. Next to that you receive 50 MXN FREE CREDIT on registering as a member. There is even NO end of auction fee. Bonus credits can be earned easy and fast by using our affiliate program, which is also FREE of charge for members. All credits earned can be used to pay featured listings like listings on our homepage or within our category pages. See our Site Fees page.

How does the affiliate program work, and how much does it cost me?

Our affiliate program is FREE of charge and is available to ALL our members. Bonus credits can be earned easy and fast by using our affiliate program. New users that register as members on our website, refered by you will automatically generate credits on your account. Currently there are two options:
1. Send emails to your family, friends or acquantances by using your affiliate link either directy from our website, or by using your own email software.

Why isn't it possible to pay in my own local currency?

Payment Gateway websites like Moneybookers.com and PayPal.com don't support all local currencies yet. Therefore Mercado de Ventas decided to handle fee payments in USD as the reference currency. For auction payments buyers and sellers can negotiate their preferred means of payment as well as their preferred payment gateway.

How about security, hackers and scammers?

We at Mercado de Ventas take security issues very seriously. Your password is strictly personal and you may NEVER SHARE them with others. Beware of scammers and phishers trying to make you believe they are Mercado de Ventas personal or representatives. Mercado de Ventas staff WILL NEVER ASK YOUR PASSWORD! ALWAYS beware of items for sale that are to good to be true, for instance, brand new laptops for only $250 while worth at least $1000 should ring your alarmbells. Next to that WATCH OUT for people that use tricks as alternate addresses for contacting them or vague payment methods like Western Union and BidPay. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY OF THEM and ONLY SEEK CONTACT THROUGH THE ADDRESSES YOU'LL RECEIVE FROM MERCADO DE VENTAS BY EMAIL at the end of your auctions. Mercado de Ventas logs all activity and transactions for security purposes. If you think you are dealing with a scammer, use the ABUSE page to immediately warn and notify us, so that we can promptly execute preventive measures and adequate actions.

Why should I use MoneyBookers?

We at Mercado de Ventas advise to use MoneyBookers.com. Moneybookers is international oriented, fast, easy to use, low rates, and most important very secure. Especially for auction payments MoneyBookers provides a unique ESCROW service. Buyers can prepare their payments and sellers get signalled by email immediately. The actual payment is however set on-hold by MoneyBookers until goods are received by the buyer. If the buyer is satisfied with the goods, payment is finalised by the buyer and the money is only then transferred into the seller's account. If for some reason goods must be returned, buyer and seller can agree to arrange this, and buyer can revoke the on-hold payment back to his/her own account. This protect buyers from scam sellers and forces sellers to good standing. Disputes can be mediated and solved by MoneyBookers.
